Fernando Torres is hoping his new Nike boots will help him start scoring again.

The £50 million forward is expected to start on the bench for Spain's clash with England on Saturday afternoon. Torres, an ambassador for Nike's T90 Laser IV range of boots, has bagged 27 goals in 89 appearances for La Furia Roja. His most recent came in Spain's 4-0 win over the USA in the summer.

"I've been training with the boots for a few months and it's amazing the improvements Nike have made with them," he told Soccerbible.com in a recent interview.

"They have combined very well the technology and the feel that footballers like. On the inside you have padding which can give more spin on the ball or help you pass long.

"Hopefully the new boots will help me to start scoring in almost every game like not long ago," added the striker.

El Nino has netted four goals in 13 appearances in the Chelsea blue this season as he adapts to life at Stamford Bridge.

The T90 Laser IV, also worn by Wayne Rooney, is the new model created by the sportswear giant and has been praised by top players for the innovations used on the footwear.

Nike's new boot has been designed to give their players an edge when competing on wet and soft ground by providing increased traction. The boot also incorporates 'power' and 'swerve' zones which are designed to flex naturally with ball contact, allowing natural movement of the foot.<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ad.doubleclick.net/adj/gna.enin/level2;tile=3;sz=160x600;ord=66593?area=2l&pos=2&ord=66593"></script>

Fans at Wembley will be denied seeing Torres and Rooney going head to head in their new Nike boots as the England striker has been dropped by Fabio Capello. Torres' Chelsea team-mate John Terry will also be a curious spectator on the bench as Blues colleague Frank Lampard captains his country for the first time.

Fernando Torres wears the new T90 Laser IV, the striker’s boot designed to deliver the perfect strike.
